SpeechPro and PenRad Technologies announced a partnership to use voice authentication as means to reduce the risk of infection in healthcare facilities. The solution relies on voice biometric technology for touchless data entry to help improve the productivity of healthcare professionals as well as mitigating the spread of germs.
As explained in the announcement, hospital staff enroll biometric voiceprints into the system and then are able speak to a wall-mounted tablet that recognizes their voice while inputting data into reports. The application ensures the person entering data is validated without a separate login. No hands are needed thus reducing the possibility of infection.
PenRad’s Applicadia technology, in combination with SpeechPro VoiceKey algorithm, will run on mobile devices and wearables for real-time, point-of-service digital data-entry. PenRad Technologies offers solutions for professionals in mammography, general radiology and vascular procedures.
In a conversation with Alexey Khitrov, CEO of SpeechPro USA, he explained that the addition of voice biometrics helps solves the problems associated with the risk of infection from fingerprint scanners as authentication methods. Also, RFID cards can lost or stolen.
SpeechPro is working on number of projects with PenRad, including a pilot combining face and voice authentication, said Khitrov. The touchless data entry solution adds a layer of security with minimal effort from the user. By integrating with the transcription system via an SDK, healthcare workers also improve productivity by speeding up the time it takes to complete reports and process billing, says Khitrov.
SpeechPro will also be releasing an English-language automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology later this year.
