Innovative Russian Bank Using NICE Systems Real-Time Voice Authentication

tinkoff-logoAccording to this report in the Russian Technology Website CNews, Tinkoff Credit Systems Bank (TCS Bank) has introduced voice-based authentication to make it faster and easier for its clients to log on and use its phone-based banking services. TCS Bank is the third largest issuer of credit cards in Russia and a long-time innovator in retail financial services, which it offers through a “high-tech branchless platform.”

According to TCS Bank’s CTO, Vyacheslav Tsyganov, evaluation of using voiceprints to replace PINs, passwords or challenge questions started in 2013. After several months of trials, the company determined that it could shave 40 seconds from a 4 minute call by using a voice passphrase rather than the alternatives. Today it supports streamlined access to the banks contact center, but the wheels are in motion to expand across the access to the full spectrum of banking applications over multiple channels.

This represents the first publicly-announced implementation of NICE System’s Real-Time Authentication Suite which integrates a voice biometrics-based authentication resources from Nuance Communications with a host of real-time speech analytics and risk management capabilities developed and integrated by NICE. I will have more to say on the topic of real-time authentication on December 4 as part of a series of webinars conducted by NICE on “Enterprise-Wide Operational Efficiencies.”
