Rich Phone App specialist SpeechCycle has formed a new Mobile Division, focusing exclusively on applications for the growing population of smartphone users. Albert Kim, who has served on SpeechCycle’s executive board since 2007, will be in charge of the new division. He had been an internal consultant and software architect at Microsoft from 1992 until 2005. During much of that time, he got to know the demands of the needs of cable operators and communications service providers. He was also co-founder of a SaaS start-up Equicast Media LLC, chartered to provide software to make it easier to create and distribute podcasts.
Carriers and cable companies (not to mention banks and airlines) have rushed to make smartphone apps part of their multi-modal care strategies. Under Kim, SpeechCycle’s Mobile Division will focus on bringing its “Rich Phone App” development approach into the largest footprint of smartphone operating systems.
