Nuance wants you to know that the phone also ships with both V-Suite 3 (voice command and input) and XT9 (predictive texting) pre-installed. Cameras and touchscreens get all the press these days, often at the expense of highlighting the other technologies that have an impact on usability.
Because promotional efforts highlight the features that trump the iPhone or Android, T-Mobile pays short shrift to spoken input and predictive texting. Yet it is these enhancements to the user experience that will popularize the phones by making them easier to use. That’s why Nuance Communications issued a press release to make the point that the device ships with both V-Suite 3 and XT9 pre-installed. The point is that the features and functions that make the Memoir a good smartphone are improved by judicious use of spoken commands and predictive texting.
