Dan Miller, Senior Analyst & Founder, Opus Research

Dan MillerDan Miller has over 25 years experience in marketing, business development and corporate strategy for telecom service providers, computer makers and application software developers. Dan founded Opus Research in 1985 and helped define the Conversational Commerce marketplace by authoring scores of reports, advisories and newsletters addressing business opportunities that reside where automated speech leverages Web services, mobility and enterprise software infrastructure.

As Director of the New Electronic Media Program at LINK Resources from 1980-1983, he helped define one of the first continuous advisory services in the information industry. He then held management positions at Atari, Warner Communications and Pacific Telesis Group (now part of AT&T).

Dan founded Opus Research, Inc. and published Telemedia News & Views, a highly-regarded monthly newsletter regarding developments in voice processing and intelligent network services. He served as Editor-in-Chief of The Kelsey Report, where he also oversaw the launch of advisory services on local online commerce, voice & wireless commerce and global directories.

Dan received his BA from Hampshire College and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. He has been quoted in SpeechTek magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Wired.com, CommWeb and elsewhere. He has also provided commentary on CNN and TechTV.

Tim Moynihan, Senior Analyst & Project Leader, Opus Research

TimMoynihan_photoTim Moynihan is senior analyst and project leader at Opus Research. Previously, Moynihan served as vice president of marketing at Empirix. In this role, he was responsible for strategic business planning and product revenue growth strategies as well as expanding Empirix’s position as the market leader in service quality assurance solutions for enterprises and service providers. These responsibilities include providing executive leadership, managing their individual business units on both an internal and external basis as well as overseeing marketing objectives worldwide.

With a specialty in technology marketing in both U.S. and international markets, Moynihan served as vice president of global marketing and channels at Envox Worldwide prior to Empirix, where he developed and implemented company product management and product marketing and channel strategies for advanced inbound and outbound voice communications solutions. Prior to Envox Worldwide, he served as director at Intel Corporation where he created and implemented worldwide product launches and ecosystem and awareness building programs for rapid market adoption.

 Moynihan earned his bachelor’s degree at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., and received his MBA from Purdue University.

Jon Rosen, Program Director, Place Conference Series

Rosen also held the role of Executive Vice President for the Location Hardware and Software company iInside (formerly WirelessWERX). Rosen has been a frequent speaker and thought leader within the industry appearing at CTIA Wireless, MobileCon, Retail Technology Exchange, Future Stores, AdTech, Retail Business Executive Summit, and Mobile Impact Summit, among other events since 2011.

Rosen brings a crossover background to the Location market with over 25 years’ experience as a business growth leader for software firms as well as digital media companies; In recent history with global media companies such as AOL/Time Warner (NYSE: AOL) and Autobytel (NASDAQ: ABTL) as well as several successful startups. He ran strategy and business development at AOL Search and Directional Media and was an early pioneer in search marketing as founding president of the leading Search consultancy, iProspect. Prior to media roles, Rosen held senior roles at early stage software companies; several of which sold to companies such as EMC and SunGard. Before moving into media technology, Rosen was the Chief Operating Officer for SunGard Technologies. Rosen has served on several Board and advisory roles including organizations such as MarketShare Partners, The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), DoubleClick (Google), Market Hardware (acquired by IAC), search software company SearchForce and video search engine MeFeedia. Derek Top, Research Director, Opus Research

Derek TopDerek Top is head of editorial operations for Opus Research, a diversified analyst firm tracking mobile technologies and voice communication services. For more than 12 years, he has been covering transformative technologies and producing top-notch business events.

Most recently, he was senior editor and program director at GreenBiz Group. There he helped produce the VERGE conference series and wrote about how the convergence of mobile and information technologies are driving innovation for smart energy and sustainability.
