TransUnion Teams with OneVault to Build National Voice Bank in South Africa

TransunionSouth Africa continues to be the site for highly innovative implementations of voice biometric-based solutions for identification, authentication and fraud reduction. Most recently, one of the country’s leading credit bureaus, TransUnion, formed a partnership with voice biometric specialist OneVault to operate a national “Voice Bank,” which will be cloud-based resource to support voice-based authentication.

A spokesperson for TransUnion claims that 30,000 individuals have already enrolled their voiceprints in the bank. They were largely registered through contact centers operated by TransUnion in South Africa. Much like a credit authorization service, the Voice Bank can be accessed on a per-query basis to facilitate speedy caller authentication and verification. Both companies expect enrollments to accelerate in the coming year, which is a view that may be validated by the success that the South African Social Security Administration (SASSA) has met in its efforts to enroll 10 million citizens’ voiceprints to support its payment distribution system.

TransUnion sees significant value for its corporate customers in integrate biometric authentication into their customer care operations.
