Picture 1According to this blog post, BT’s Ribbit subsidiary will be demonstrating the latest rev of its Ribbit for Salesforce designed for on-the-go, mobile sales reps. In the spirit of Recombinant Telephony, it is a mash-up that makes use of Ribbit’s inherent call management, voicemail and email capabilities, but adds voicemail-to-text conversion, outbound SMS alert and the ability to update records in a CRM system the Salesforce.com cloud.

The result is an application that is “horizontal” in that it supports road warriors in any vertical market. But it is a showcase for Ribbit Mobile, which is the product of the Ribbit team’s pre-packaging of six basic functionalities: IP-based voice calls (VoIP), next-gen caller ID, call management, voice-to-text transciption, message management and voicemail, all extended to a variety of mobile devices, including feature phones as well as smartphones.

More than a tool for the mobile salesforce, Ribbit is ultimately a platform (and showcase) for how cloud-based computing can revolutionize customer care and contact centers as we know them. [More to come on this topic as we attend Dreamforce this week.]
